Let me introduce you new iPhone app, KanjiMe.
This app showing you how to write foreigner’s name in Japanese Kanji.
and some of Kanji names are introduced its writing stroke order with Video.
Of course, non-Japanese name are written in Katakana in Japan customarily,
but use Kanji as phonetically and apply it to foreigner’s name.

You might learn that your name is written in Katakana because your teacher said foreign words are written in Katakana customarily, like James: ジェームズ
However, foreign names can be written in Kanji if you like！ like most of Japanese have their own names in Kanji.
So how this is possible you might ask, well basically in Kanji, there are “on” reading and “kun” reading.
- “on” reading resembles the Chinese way of reading.
- “kun” reading is the Japanese original way of reading.
So Kanji for foreigner uses phonetic equivalent, so there might be several ways to write the name in Kanji. Since each Kanji has its meaning in it, the impression will be different.
So our goal in this App, is to select cool & positive Kanji for your name! (also showing other reading option for the Kanji.)
With KanjiMe we will maintain a public list or repository of Foreign names and the kanji for each name, and the meaning for every kanji. We will be constantly updating the app with new names every week.
